Lexie is an Aboriginal woman in a remote aboriginal community 450km from Alice Springs in Central Australia. She is known in her community as ‘The Dog Whisperer’. Just when and how she was given this title is unknown. She is a gentle soul who cares for any animal that comes her way. Sometimes she finds abandoned animals and others are given to her.

She never says no. Currently she cares for 25 dogs, 3 cats and 5 “chook chooks”! This is a struggle. It is not uncommon to see Lexie at 7am picking up rubbish and cleaning the area in front of the local store to earn some extra funds to support her charges. She also sells her art to tourists and those willing to help her. She does allow the visiting Vets to de-sex many of the animals, however this service is not reliable, and the dogs and cats do have litters before the next visit.

Living in a remote community is never easy! Food security is a major issue for everyone and of course the animals are the last to be fed.

Our not-for profit charity, FURMENTALITY , is located in Alice Springs. We support Lexie the Dog Whisperer by raising money for her so she can feed the 25 camp dogs which she is looking after.

Please donate now to help support Lexie and the camp dogs

of the remote communities of Central Australia.

Thank you!
